Can a city police officer date someone that was previously questioned in a case about two years ago?
March 31st, 2010 | by admin |This person does have prior convictions but has worked very hard to change her life and there are several important people that will verify this. She is also on probation.

A police officer can date whomever he wants..convicted felon or not…
The real question is why would anyone want to date a pig…er…cop?

Depends, probably can.
If this is a drug dealing murderer, it won’t look good for him.

Yes, but it may create friction in the workplace if the officer is assigned to a part of the city where that person lives and the person has future dealings with law enforcement.
If I were you, I would be very discreet about it at first and see how things go. If it starts to look serious, then it might be appropriate to ask for a transfer to a different assignment if you start to see a potential conflict of interest developing.

The police officer needs to discuss it with internal affairs.

There is no LAW against it. There may be department POLICIES regarding the issue. If you department has such policies, and this violates them, it would be grounds for disciplinary action, up to termination of employment.

As long as there is no conflict with an ongoing case, I don’t see why not.
Granted, they did initially meet during an interview, but if the case is over…they are both adults and there sould be no problem.
